Folk paintings from Orissa 'Patachitra' exhibit the use of strong line and brilliant colors.These are religious paintings which covers themes from Indian mythology.Mainly made on silk or on old cotton glued with paper. To give the surface a leather like texture mixture of chalk and tamarind seed paste is coated. Patachitra are painted in a regular series like Dashavtar and leela's of Lord Krishna and Rama.
